Welcome Note
Kartarpur is the birthplace of Dandi Swami Virjanand Saraswati, the great guru of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, the founder of the Arya Samaj. Dandi Swami Shri Guru Virjanand was a man of unique and exceptional talent. He was a true patriot at heart and a staunch advocate of Vedic civilization and Sanskrit. He took revolutionary steps and presented a logical interpretation of the Vedas and ancient Indian literature. His greatest contribution to national service was that he groomed a disciple like Rishi Dayanand, who, as a guru, dedicated his entire life to the propagation of Vedic culture and ancient Indian literature. Kartarpur is located 16 km from Jalandhar on the Delhi-Jalandhar-Amritsar main railway line and the Grand Trunk Road. In the sacred memory of the great Guru Virjanand, a Gurukul named "Shri Guru Virjanand Gurukul" has been functioning in Kartarpur since 1970. It is a residential institution where all the students and almost all the teachers live on the Gurukul premises. Following the ancient Indian cultural tradition, this Gurukul not only provides free education but also free boarding and lodging. Thus, students of all classes and categories, whether rich or poor, live and study together in the same way as the students lived in the Gurukul of Maharishi Sandipani in ancient times, where Krishna and Sudama studied together. This Gurukul is affiliated with the Central Sanskrit University, Delhi. Students who enroll here in the sixth grade receive Vedalankar-Vidyalankar certificates, equivalent to a B.A. degree, from the Central Sanskrit University after completing their studies up to the fifteenth grade. Currently, approximately 230 students are receiving education at this Gurukul. There are 15 teachers, including the principal. All these teachers are highly educated and fully capable of providing proper guidance to the students in shaping their future. This Gurukul (traditional Indian school) not only provides training in Vedic scriptures and rituals, but also in English, science, mathematics, social studies, philosophy, politics, and computer science, matching the educational standards of modern educational institutions. We claim that our students possess an excellent level of knowledge in all subjects. Students from almost all states of India come to this Gurukul for education, thus presenting a microcosm of India. Most of the students come from parts of the country where Christian missionaries are exploiting their poverty, luring them with free education and promises of high positions in the future, and attempting to convert them. Generally, people wish to preserve their culture and religion if they see an alternative. This alternative is provided only by our institution; however, our Gurukul lacks sufficient space and funds to admit and provide free food and other necessities to all such students. Considering our current financial resources and available space, we are unable to admit more than 300 students. This Gurukul has no fixed income and is entirely dependent on donations from generous benefactors. These benefactors are performing a highly meritorious act by rescuing poor students from the clutches of proselytizing missionaries and supporting their education at this Gurukul. Special efforts are made to develop debating and public speaking skills among the students, enabling them to become excellent preachers and priests. For this purpose, they present hymns, verses, and discourses in Hindi, English, and Sanskrit. This takes place under the chairmanship of the principal of the Gurukul. The Gurukul has its own cowshed to provide high-quality milk and ghee to the students, fulfilling all their needs for these products. The students participate in inter-school and inter-university Sanskrit and other competitions. This helps in the development of their talents and provides students with knowledge of other subjects through discussions on contemporary issues.
In short, we are trying to provide education in the spirit of Rishi Dayanand, and we seek your advice for the development of our Gurukul. Let us work together to nurture capable students from this region and play a significant role in building a better India.

President's message
Matruvan, Pitruvan, Acharyavan Purushoved," meaning a child has three gurus: first the mother, second the father, and third the teacher. In the modern education system, there seems to be a lack of all three of these gurus. Currently, neither parents have the time, nor do qualified teachers contribute to the all-round development of the child. However, in the present times, only value-based, quality-oriented, ethical education, imbued with patriotism and devotion to parents, can ensure the holistic development of children.
Principal's message
The primary objective of this society is to benefit the world, that is, to promote physical, spiritual, and social progress. This statement, formulated by Rishi Dayanand, is a matter of concern for all educators today. Is such an education system available today that fosters the physical, spiritual, and social development of children? The present age emphasizes scientific reasoning, yet there seems to be a lack of self-confidence among the youth.
